Two Butterflies

Two little butterflies
happy together, they fly
fluttering their wings of periwinkle
carrying in their eyes, a twinkle
with calm souls, they fly together
out into the world, they fly together

Behold for this is where they belong
this is where they feel young
Here is where they feel free
here they can truly say, “I am me”
As the freedom they choose is theirs
here in this very moment they’re together

They cherish whatever they hold
and they forget what the world has told
that the clouds are not truly their home
that at last they’ll be all ‘lone
they know it’s all false
because the friendship they have shall never falter

Two little butterflies
happy as they fly
together they run away from the cruelty of the world
together in their own warmth they both curl up
and rest happily for they know
no any fights can ever break their flow

a precious friendship
with each other
they hold
